Organic Coffee Historia 1492
Pure 100% Costa Rica Arabica
Medium roast
Harvested in the Brunca region in the south of Costa Rica by the Organic Producing Families Association of Alianza Madre Tierra.
Grown at altitudes between 1,000 to 1,250 meters above sea level (3,280 - 4,100 feet)
Characteristic chocolatey flavors in a balanced cup with intense spicy aroma.
Production method: diversified crops with at least 9 types of shade and fruit trees. Every hectare (2.56 acres) is covered by 60% shade trees and about 20,000 kilos of organic compost fertilizer are used to nourish the soil along with mineral rich liquid organic fertilizers on the leaves and soil of the coffee trees. The land counts with soil containment features to prevent erosion and is 95% plant material.
Industrialization: during harvest, plants can be selectively picked up to 5 times for strictly mature beans. The washed depulping is carried out with ecologic practices where no more than one liter of water is used for each kilo of coffee cherries. Then the process is completed by sun drying to obtain a better color and preservation of the coffee flavors. All waste generated during the process is used for fertilizers.
